Sienna Takes a Personal Day

After she and the rest of the world learned of her fiancé Jude Law's infidelity this week, Sienna Miller apparently decided she could use a day off.

The actress played hooky from the West End production of As You Like It Tuesday, allowing her understudy to take the stage in her place.

"The As You Like It management has made the decision that at this evening's performance the role of Celia will be played by Denise Gough," read a sign at London's Wyndham Theater.

The play's director, David Lan, confirmed Miller would not be appearing.

"One of the reasons is that she's had rather a rough time with her private life being under such scrutiny," Lan told London's Mirror.

Miller, 23, was expected to return to work on Wednesday.

On Monday, Miller took the stage minus her engagement ring following Law's public admission and apology for carrying on an affair with 26-year-old Daisy Wright, the former nanny to his three children.

Though her performance was deemed "faultless," the actress became tearful during her final curtain call.

But according to her mother, Josephine, Sienna has, for the most part, been "too angry for tears."

"It is anger and betrayal," Josephine Miller told reporters. "Not in a million years would we have suspected that he would have done that.

"I can't comment on whether they will stay together. The least said the quicker it might be mended.

"She is a trooper, my Sienna--she has always been very strong."

Law, meanwhile, showed up looking "glum" to the London set of his new movie on Tuesday, Breaking and Entering, onlookers reported.

"His eyes were swollen, and his voice was husky. He looked in a terrible way and was thoroughly miserable," one source told the Mirror.

The twosome, who met on the set of 2004's Alfie and got engaged last Christmas, were said to be meeting at a secret countryside location where Miller has been staying in order to discuss their problems.

In his public apology, Law expressed his shame and sorrow over the matter.

"I am deeply ashamed and upset that I've hurt Sienna and the people most close to us," Law said. "There is no defense for my actions, which I sincerely regret, and I ask that you respect our privacy at this very difficult time."

Law's ex-wife, Sadie Frost, whose divorce settlement was finalized last month, had no advice to offer Miller.

"It's not my nightmare anymore," Frost told the Mirror.
