Michael Jackson's Bahrain Dance
"My Summer Vacation So Far,"
by Blanket Jackson...
It all started Wednesday, when Prince, Paris, Daddy Michael and I boarded a private jet in Los Angeles. Some reports say our journey began in Europe. Or maybe that was the stopover. I personally am hazy on such details. I am but three. I only know what I read phonetically on the wires.
Anyhoo...
Bahrain! No matter where we took off from, that is where we landed--Bahrain!
Per the fact sheet provided by my native United States government, Bahrain is an oil-rich monarchy of the Persian Gulf, located due east of Saudi Arabia and boasting a population of 688,345, a mere 27.8 percent of which is age 14 and under. (By comparison, I am told, rug rats account for more than 40 percent of the populaces of fellow Middle East countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan.)
If I am not mistaken, our stay here was not intended to be a matter of public record. But then a government official ratted us out to Reuters, the BBC and other news agencies. "He [Daddy Michael] is here in Bahrain on a friendly visit to relax and enjoy the hospitality," the blabbermouth was quoted as saying.
According to the Associated Press, the pretty room from which I am presently writing is in a palace that belongs to a Bahrainian prince. Daddy Michael is said to be a good friend of the resident royal family. And if these digs are any indication, the royal family is a good friend of Daddy Michael.
At this time, I think it is important that Daddy Michael is surrounded by friends if not family. (Sad to say, Auntie LaToya and the rest did not accompany us.) Daddy Michael has been under much stress lately. And while he's been trying very hard to get stronger--eating sandwiches like there's no tomorrow, says Uncle Jermaine!--he really could use some fun in the sun. (Oh, but I do hope Nanny packed the umbrella. Daddy Michael doesn't seem to tan well.)
This is Daddy Michael's first reported trip overseas since a courtroom matter was resolved to his satisfaction on June 13 and since those bad men in Santa Barbara County returned his passport.
In a way, I believe, all things work out for the best. If Daddy Michael had been free to travel last year, we might not have come to Bahrain, seeing as how terrorism concerns led the U.S. State Department to put the country on its travel-warnings list.
Currently, though, Bahrain is not considered the hottest of hot spots. Americans are only advised to, as the State Department puts it, "maintain a high level of security awareness." Daddy Michael's good at that sort of stuff, so we should be cool.
Speaking of cool...Boy, is it hot in here! It's 90 degrees--in the middle of the night! I'd ask Daddy Michael to take me out to the balcony so that my spirit could catch a breath of fresh air, but, well, that didn't seem to go well the last time.
Let's see, what else? Oh, yes...Get this, Bahrain is, like, the new Tahiti!
"It's not your average tourist place," Suzan Nassar, a travel counselor for Montrose Travel in Montrose, California, told E! Online. "[But] it's very popular with businessmen and business executives."
Best of all, Nassar said, "It's not a cheap destination." (Guess that means Daddy Michael's still got some serious coin!)
I don't know how long I'll be staying here. And I don't know what Daddy Michael will be up to next. I just know I better come back with something better than a lousy T-shirt.
