She won an Academy Award for The Miracle Worker and earned a place in the pop-culture pantheon as the seductive Mrs. Robinson opposite Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate. Survivors include husband Mel Brooks.
JACKSON WATCH: Jurors finishing second full day of deliberations Tuesday in the Michael Jackson child-molestation trial without reacing a verdict. They'll resume at 8:30 a.m. PT Wednesday.
MORE JACKSON: A horde of fans and media are keeping vigil outside the Santa Barbara courthouse. The Reverend Jesse Jackson, acting as the entertainer's spiritual adviser, says the singer is "optimistic" about his chances and "resting comfortably" despite bad back pain.

LIFE IMITATING ART? Russell Crowe arrested Monday morning and charged with felony second-degree assault after allegedly throwing a telephone at an employee at his Manhattan hotel. According to police, Crowe was upset that he was unable to make a call to Australia. He's due back in court in September.
NOT PARIS' FAULT: News agency AFP reporting hundreds of Chinese celebrities' cell phone numbers have been revealed on a Website. Memoirs of a Geisha star Ziyi Zhang's number was apparently one of the over 600 celeb digits posted online.
SPEAKING UP: Brad Pitt telling Diane Sawyer in an ABC Primetime Live interview airing Tuesday that he predicts he will always stay in touch with Jennifer Aniston. The actor also said he had no idea that paparazzi were photographing him on a Kenyan beach with Angelina Jolie back in April.
COME ON, GET HAPPY: Danny Bonaduce, the ex-Patridge Family star-turned-deejay who's filming his own reality series for VH1 called Being Bonaduce, exiting rehab after a month getting clean and sober. No word yet when his new series will air.
HOSPITALIZED: Former Ralph Lauren model Tyson Beckford, 34, injured when he lost control of his pickup and struck a utility pole in Secaucus, New Jersey early Monday morning. He was able to pull himself out before the vehicle burst into flames.
HOOO-AH!: Variety reporting that Al Pacino will be honored at the American Cinematheque's 20th annual benefit gala on Oct. 21 at the Beverly Hilton.
KUDOS! Tom Cruise will be feted with the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts/Los Angeles' annual Britannia Awards set for Nov. 10 at the Beverly Hilton.
HITTING BACK: Meanwhile, Katie Holmes telling reporters at the Los Angeles press junket for Batman Begins that she doesn't care whether people belive her relationship with Cruise is for real. "If you're not on board, then fine. Fine. I'm so happy. I truly feel like the luckiest woman in the world," she said.

NUMBERS UP: CBS winning the week with an average of 8.4 million viewers thanks in part to a rerun of CSI. NBC came in second with 7.1 million viewers, while ABC took third with 6.5 million, though it's new reality series, Dancing with the Stars, debuted strongly with 13.5 million viewers.
ON BOARD: Josh Lucas sealing a deal to co-star with Kurt Russell, Richard Dreyfus and Emmy Russum in director Wolfgang Petersen's remake of The Poseidon Adventure for Warner Bros. He'll play a ship-hopping gambler.
SHARING SCREEN TIME: Nicolas Cage and Will Smith joining forces for Columbia's Time Share, a comedy about two dads who square off after they discover their families are booked into the same time share during what should be their dream vacation, according to the Reporter.
ON THE TRAIL OF THE PINK PANTHER: The release date for MGM/Sony's remake of The Pink Panther, starring Steve Martin, pushed back from Aug. 5 to Feb. 10.
37 CANDLES? Molly Ringwald declaring she's interested in making a sequel to her 1984 hit movie, Sixteen Candles after reading a script she liked.
BAD VIBE: A judge ruling there is sufficient evidence for Young Buck to stand trial on an assault charge for allegedly stabbing a parolee who punched Dr. Dre at the Vibe Awards.
WORD TO THE G: A new study released by the Dove Foundation, a group that encourages the production of family friendly movies, reporting that G-rated flicks are more profitable than R-rated films, yet fewer G-rated movies are released each year.
TAKING ACTION? The Screen Actors Guild planning to announce the results of a strike vote today by voice actors for video games who are demanding from gamemakers a bigger profit share from sales.
