A DWI for Lindsay's Dad
Most teens are embarrassed by their parents, but this is getting ridiculous.
Once again, Lindsay Lohan's father is in trouble, this time for what police say was a booze-fueled accident that resulted in a torched car.
Michael Lohan was picked up by police Saturday in Long Island and charged with driving while intoxicated and driving without a license.
The teenage drama queen's dad drove his car off the road, crashed into a utility pole and emerged from his car unscathed before it burst into flames, according to police.
He was arraigned Saturday in the First District Court in Hempstead, New York, and is currently being held on $40,000 bond.
When Judge David Gross was asked to reduce the bail amount, he said "With this long history, I'll leave things the way they are."
Lohan's "long history" has played out over the past year.
Earlier this month, in response to estranged wife Dina's divorce petition, he demanded half of the 15 percent Lindsay pays her mom and wants Dina and members of her family to submit to drug and alcohol testing. At the time, his lawyer said Michael Lohan was clean and sober following a stint in court-ordered rehab.
He's due in court next week for ducking out of a $3,800 hotel bill last April. And he still faces a court date for allegedly slapping around his brother-in-law at a family party last May.
Lohan was also in hot water for punching a New York sanitation worker who blocked his car in a parking space. He pleaded guilty to the charge in October and was sentenced to anger management.
The rehab stint came after he twice violated a restraining order obtained by Dina. During sentencing in December, Michael Lohan was also placed on five years' probation.
Lindsay Lohan could not immediately be reached for comment on the latest incident, but the 18-year-old's career has so far been unaffected by her family woes.
Her rookie album, Speak, recently went platinum, and her next film, Herbie: Fully Loaded, is due in theaters June 24.
