Caruso Marriage Kaput
CSI: Miami star David Caruso's latest marriage is officially morgue-bound.
The lead investigator on CBS' hit forensics drama has split with his wife of eight years.
Margaret Caruso (n&3233;e Buckley) filed for divorce from her husband Feb. 2 in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple tied the knot May 4, 1996 and have no children.
This is the third failed marriage for the actor. His first marriage, to Cheri Maugans, ended in divorce in 1984 after five years. His six-year union with second wife, actress Rachel Ticotin, ended acrimoniously in 1994 with an $8 million alimony suit over their daughter Greta. That suit was settled in 1995.
Though his personal life is on the rocks, it's been smooth sailing of late professionally for the 49-year-old actor, who plays the surly Lieutenant Horatio Cane on the successful CSI spinoff.
The role has sparked a career revival for Caruso.
He scored a Golden Globe in 1993 for his work on NYPD Blue then fell off the map after he left the show in season two to pursue a movie career and developed a reputation as a malcontent. He seemed relegated to straight-to-video releases (Bodycount), indie films (Session 9) and second-fiddle roles (supporting Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe in the underperforming Proof of Life), before landing the lead in CSI: Miami.
The show has been a top 10 performer for CBS since its debut in 2002. It has already been picked up for syndication by A&E. This season, the show is the fifth-highest rated, per Nieslen Media Research, and averages more than 19 million viewers a week.
