Jude and Sienna's Fortunate Event
That noise you hear is a collective sigh and the breaking of hearts everywhere.
Jude Law, People magazine's reigning Sexiest Man Alive, and girlfriend Sienna Miller, who's no slouch herself, are engaged, Law's L.A.-based spokesman Simon Halls confirmed.
"Everybody's delighted," Halls told E! Wednesday.
Law popped the question Christmas Day with a "big cluster diamond ring," Law's London spokeswoman, Caira Parks, told Britain's Sun.
"He asked Sienna to marry him on Christmas Day. They spent Christmas together in England," Parks said.
"They then headed to the Indian Ocean. They have told their families the news and they're thrilled, as are Jude's children. They love Sienna and can't wait for the wedding."
The proposal came just three days before Miller's 23rd birthday and four days before Law's 32nd birthday.
No wedding date or venue has been set, though London's Evening Standard quoted Miller as saying she wanted to wed "as soon as possible."
The comely duo first met on the set of 2004's Alfie, in which Miller played one of the title lothario's (Law) many conquests. Real-life chemistry ensued.
The marriage will be a first for Miller and a second for Law, who was married to fellow actor Sadie Frost from 1997 to 2003. Law and Frost have three children together--Rafferty, 8; Iris, 4; and Rudy, 2.
"I'm delighted for Jude and Sienna and wish them all the best for the future," Frost said in a statement, per the Evening Standard.
The engagement is only the latest in a series of fortunate events for Law. Dubbed the hardest working man in show business, the heartthrob appeared in six 2004 releases. In addition to Alfie, he appeared in I Heart Huckabees, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Closer, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and The Aviator.
Law is currently at work on 2005's All the King's Men, with Patricia Clarkson and James Gandolfini and is set to star in the upcoming drama Dexterity.
Meanwhile, Miller is currently filming an untitled Casanova project with Heath Ledger and is set to play real-life society girl Edie Sedgwick in the upcoming Factory Girl.
Of course, the busy couple now has another joint production in the works as well--planning their impending nuptials.
