MAYBE THEY'LL CLONE HIM? After Santa Barbara police raided Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch Friday, the singer met with authorities to provide a DNA sample, according to the Santa Barbara News Press. Prosecutors would not say why the sample was taken.
ON HOLD...AGAIN: Opening statements in Robert Blake's murder trial, which were set to commence Monday, pushed back to Dec. 20, as a result of the theft of a computer from Blake's defense attorney, which was said to contain the "heart and soul" of the case.
ON THE MEND: Dick Ebersol and son Charlie released from a Colorado hospital Monday, after they were injured in a Thanksgiving weekend plane crash that killed Ebersol's 14-year-old son, Teddy.
MORE REBEL YELLING: Billy Idol set to release his first album featuring new songs in more than 10 years. The album, titled Devil's Playground, is due for release March 22, 2005.
MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU: THQ Wireless signing with Lucasfilm Ltd. to develop exclusive Star Wars content for cell phones.
YOU'RE HIRED: The winner of The Apprentice 2 set to be hired in a live three-hour finale, broadcast Dec. 16 from Lincoln Center. The cast of the show is also slated to return to the boardroom for a reunion.
'TOON TIME: The Incredibles leading the nominations for the 32nd Annual Annie Awards, with 16 in all, including one for Best Animated Feature. Shark Tale and Shrek 2 snagged seven noms apiece and were also in the running for Best Animated Feature. The Annie Awards will be handed out in a Jan. 16 ceremony.
POISON PEN: The New York Police Department's Hate Crimes Unit investigating threatening letters critical of Taye Diggs' interracial marriage to wife Idina Menzel, star of the Tony-winning musical, Wicked, according to published reports.
KUDOS: Jon Stewart's America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction named the Book of the Year by Publishers Weekly.
IN COURT: Tom Sizemore set to be sentenced in Los Angeles after he admitted violating his probation. He was convicted of seven misdemeanor counts last year, including domestic violence and charges that he made threatening phone calls to ex-girlfriend Heidi Fleiss.
BACK ON TOP: The Band Aid 20 single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" number one on the British music charts after a strong first week of sales. The new version features Coldplay's Chris Martin, Paul McCartney, Bono and Dido, among others.
INJURED: Miguel Cancel, a police officer who sang with Menudo in the 1980s, hurt when a van he was riding in with three other officers overturned on Florida's turnpike.
KENNEDY CENTER KUDOS: Warren Beatty, Elton John, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Star Wars conductor John Williams and opera diva Joan Sutherland the recipients of the 27th annual Kennedy Center Honors Sunday for their contributions to the arts.
TRIPLE TREASURE TROVE: For the third week in a row, Nicolas Cage's National Treasure topped the weekend box office, earning $17.1 million to become the 18th film this year to coin more than $100 million. Christmas With The Kranks climbed to second place, with $11.1 million, after debuting in third place last week. The only new movie in the top 10 was Closer, debuting in sixth place in limited release.
DIAPER DUTY: Laura Dern and fianc? Ben Harper welcomed a baby girl on Sunday in Los Angeles, her rep confirmed. The tyke weighed in at six pounds and two ounces. The couple also has a three-year-old son.
EYE SPY: Celebrities including Robert Downey Jr., Carmen Electra and Mischa Barton pairing with Sama Eyewear designer Sheila Vance to announce her latest collection of sunglasses. Proceeds from the shades will be donated to drug rehabilitation programs.
PEOPLE POWER: Shrek 2, Fahrenheit 9/11, The Incredibles and Spider-Man 2 named as the film nominees for the People's Choice Awards. Winners will be announced Jan. 9 on CBS.
