"Sex" Star's Sex Life Scrutinized

Cynthia Nixon played straitlaced and straight lawyer Miranda Hobbs on Sex and the City, but in real life, the thesp may be involved in a relationship of the same-sex variety.

According to reports published in the New York Daily News and the New York Post Friday, Nixon has been seeing a woman for almost 10 months.

The actress split from longtime love Danny Mozes, the father of her two children, in June 2003. The couple, who never married, reportedly remain friendly and share custody of Samatha, 8, and Charles, who will turn 2 in December.

Sources told the New York Daily News that Nixon began seeing the unidentified woman, who is reportedly not involved in show business, last January.

Nixon's rep declined to comment to E! Friday, but Nixon herself did not deny the rumors to the Daily News.

"My private life is private," the thesp told the Daily News. "But at the same time, I have nothing to hide. So what I will say is that I am very happy."

Her love life isn't the only thing Nixon has to be happy about--last Sunday, she nabbed an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Sex and the City's swan-song season, beating out cast mates Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis for the honor. (Sarah Jessica Parker took home the Best Actress trophy.) Nixon's mother served as her date to the event.

Nixon's real-life sexual preferences may come as a surprise to those who viewed her as true-to-type with her Sex and the City character, the unadventurous Miranda.

On the show, same-sex relationships were explored only by the sultry Samantha (Cattrall). Miranda was mistaken for a lesbian by her boss, who set her up with a woman in one episode, but the error was remedied after Miranda shared a kiss with her date and realized she was strictly hetero.

Nixon recently signed on to play Eleanor Roosevelt opposite Kenneth Branagh's FDR in the HBO movie Warm Springs. She's also been busy finishing up work on a new Sundance Channel series titled Tanner on Tanner, directed by Robert Altman.

She appears in the upcoming Little Manhattan, a romantic comedy about two 11-year-olds finding love in New York. The film is expected to unspool next year.

Nixon has also signed on for Lymelife, a drama about a family falling apart due to a failing marriage. Alec Baldwin and Jennifer Jason Leigh are also attached to the film, currently in preproduction and expected in theaters next year.
