Hargitay Gets Hitched

Break out the handcuffs, Detective Benson has gotten hitched!

Mariska Hargitay, who plays the tough-but-tender sex crimes detective on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, has tied the knot with boyfriend Peter Hermann.

The couple, who met on the set of the NBC drama when Hermann signed on for the recurring role of attorney Trevor Langen, exchanged vows Saturday in Santa Barbara, after a four-month engagement.

The bride sported a blush-colored Carolina Herrera gown, according to People. She also donned some very un-cop-like gardenias in her hair and was serenaded throughout the ceremony by a gospel choir, whose repertoire reportedly included "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."

Wedding planner Yifat Oren told People that the ceremony, which included 10 nieces and nephews of the couple in the wedding party, was "enchanting" and "magical."

Following the nuptials was a chichi bash at an estate in nearby Montecito, where the bride and groom were joined by 200 guests. The 40-year-old bride and 37-year-old groom reportedly canoodled for the crowd in front of a six-foot-tall wedding cake topped by a crystal ode to their initials, "M&P."

"They're mad about each other," says Oren. "And they're hilariously funny together."

Aside from the recent marriage, she is also the dark-horse candidate in the upcoming Emmy race. She's been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for her work on SVU. Winners will be announced Sept. 19.

Hargitay, the daughter of the late screen siren Jayne Mansfield and bodybuilder/B-movie hero Mickey Hargitay, has played the character of Olivia Benson since the show debuted in 1999. The spinoff has held its own in the ratings race, finishing its fifth season as the 24th most watched show and averaging 12.1 million viewers each week, per Nielsen Media Research.

Hargitay has also had a recurring role on ER and recently played a lawyer in the Lifetime original movie Plain Truth, which will premiere later this year.
