Tommy Lee Goes "Old School"
Get ready, kids: Former M?tley Cr?e drummer Tommy Lee may well be sitting next to you in class this fall.
Cribbing from Old School, NBC has agreed to pick up a new half-hour reality show featuring the 42-year-old rock star enrolling in college.
No word yet on where Lee will matriculate, or how he did on his SATs, but it's a safe bet that the school will be somewhere in California as Lee lives in Los Angeles. The show aims to capture Lee both in, and out of the classroom (beer bong, dudes?).
Lee, who has been looking for a reality vehicle for the past three years, will executive produce the still untitled show, according to Variety, with an assist from Eddie October, who produces VH1's Bands Reunited.
The notorious bad boy has spent the past few years trying to put his troubles behind him. In 2003, he was cleared of liability for an accidental drowning of a child at Lee's former house in Malibu and a judge dismissed a spousal-abuse charge brought by former wife Pamela Anderson.
More recently, however, Lee was reportedly back to his hard-partying ways. Reps from a Las Vegas nightclub allege the rocker bailed on a $800 bar tab after flubbing a celebrity deejay set in June. Lee denied the allegations at the time.
Lee's bandmate Vince Neil is already a reality star of sorts. He can be spotted on reruns of The Surreal Life cozying up to M.C. Hammer in church. Neil just signed a deal to headline MTV's The Remaking of Vince Neil, in which the man who shouted at the devil gets a team of makeover specialists who will help him mount a made-for-TV comeback.
News of Lee and Neil's reality engagements come amid rumors that the original Cr?e lineup will reunite for a tour in 2005.
As for Lee's personal life, after scuttling his engagement to former Prince flame Mayte Garcia, he recently made tab headlines following a supposed steamy dalliance with Pink.
All of Lee's conquests and conflicts will be well documented in his autobiography, Tommyworld, due in October.
And dude, you could totally get credit for doing a book report...on your own book! How awesome is that?
