Andy Dick's Innocent Pot Plea

Andy Dick is just saying no to a charge of pot possession.

On Wednesday, the colorful comedian entered a plea of not guilty to a misdemeanor count stemming from last month's wacky-tobacky bust at the Coachella music festival in Indio, California.

A rent-a-cop collared Dick, who was partying in the VIP area near the stage, when he allegedly fired up a joint with his Bic lighter. A further search turned up a small marijuana stash in a baggie.

The funnyman was handed over to the Indio Police Department, who cited him for misdemeanor pot possession of less than an ounce, removed his VIP wristband and kicked him off the concert grounds.

A pretrial hearing in the case is scheduled for June 29 in Riverside County Superior Court.

It's déjà vu for the onetime News Radio star, who pleaded guilty in 1999 to felony cocaine possession and misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession and possession of a smoking device following a car crash in Hollywood.

His record was wiped clean in 2001, after he completed an 18-month rehab program.

The upcoming court date should have no impact on Dick's new MTV show, The Assistant, a parody of NBC's The Apprentice. Taping on The Assistant, in which contestants compete for a job at a Hollywood production company, a new car and maybe even a stash of munchies, wrapped last week. The eight-episode series bows this summer.
