No Investigation for Arnold

Yes, allegations exist that he groped some women, but no, Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't going to dwell on it.

Despite Schwarzenegger's post-election promises to investigate the sexual-harassment allegations against him, he's chosen to focus instead on his new gig as governor, thankyouverymuch.

Hence, all plans of hiring a private investigator to, well, investigate himself have been terminated.

"The governor, in talking with counsel and advisors, concluded that there was very little point to the investigation," spokesman Rob Stutzman told the Los Angeles Times Tuesday. "The issue has become quite too political. He has apologized and continues to be sincerely sorry for anyone he has offended, but also thinks the time has come to move on.

"There's a lot of important work to do here. That's what he's completely focused on. He's doing the work as governor that the people sent him here to do."

Schwarzenegger, in the meantime, remains befuddled as to where all groping allegations came from.

"I've been here for 35 years in this country and I have never had any complaints filed against me nor any complaints made to me," he said in a Tuesday interview with CNN. "It was rather odd, I would say that just a few days before the election that all of a sudden there was 16 [women] that had, you know, complaints."

Coincidence? Perhaps--or else just the fruits of shoddy journalism, according to Stutzman.

"We continue to believe much of it was the product of questionable journalism," Stutzman told the Los Angeles Times, which dredged up the allegations shortly before the election. "But the results of the election spoke loudly to this issue. And he's moving on in focusing on being governor."

One Arnold-detractor who's not losing her focus on the prior allegations against the governor is Rhonda Miller, one of the women who surfaced during the recall election to accuse Schwarzenegger of sexual harassment.

Miller is suing the Gubernator and his campaign staff for deliberately libeling her as a convicted felon.

Miller had the opportunity to work with Schwarzenegger as a body double on the sets of True Lies and Terminator 2. She said Schwarzenegger pulled her shirt up and photographed her breasts on one occasion and fondled them on another.

She said she did not sue the Kindergarten Cop star because the alleged groping gaffes occurred in the early 1990s and the statute of limitations had expired.

However, this time she's not giving in without a fight.

In a complaint filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Miller alleges that shortly before the recall vote, Schwarzenegger's campaign team issued a media advisory directing reporters to a lengthy rap sheet belonging to one Rhonda Miller.

The court records told a sordid story of Miller's felony convictions for prostitution and fraud among other crimes. One problem--the records belonged to an entirely different Rhonda Miller.

Miller believes the mix-up was not a mistake, but a "dirty trick" meant to discredit her.

"I was sick to my stomach...disgusted," she said at a press conference in Los Angeles, discussing her reaction to Schwarzenegger's alleged tactics.

The suit accuses the governor of a "calculated act of character assassination," stating that Schwarzenegger and his staff knew all along they had the wrong Rhonda Miller, but purposely misled the media.

The Miller who says Schwarzenegger groped her has never been charged or convicted of any crime.

Several days after Schwarzenegger's election victory, the truth emerged, wiping Miller's temporarily besmirched slate clean. However, the lapse of time during which she was believed to be a convicted felon cost Miller "enormous financial and emotion damage" according to her suit.

In an unsurprising legal twist, the ever camera-ready legal eagle Gloria Allred has signed on to represent Miller.

Allred wasted no time in aggravating Schwarzenegger's attorney, Martin Singer, who complained that Allred "leaked" details of the suit to the media before she filed it.

Singer said Allred's loudmouth tactics caused him to question the validity of the suit.

"We believe the claims are absolutely without merit," Singer told Los Angeles' City News Service. "We are confident the claims will be dismissed. It appears that this lawsuit is much more geared for publicity purposes than litigating on merits."

Miller is seeking unspecified monetary damages from Schwarzenegger. Allred said she will also pursue legal action against those media outlets that reported Miller was a felon.
