Trista: Bachelorette No Longer

Monica and Chandler. Jessica and Nick. Joanie and Chachi. And now Trista and Ryan.

The couple who met on a reality dating show became the latest TV newlyweds, as onetime Bachelor reject Trista Rehn married her Bachelorette sweetie Ryan Sutter just outside Palm Springs on Saturday, in a million-dollar extravaganza that will air on ABC Wednesday night.

Cheerleader turned physical therapist turned wannabe Hollywood star Rehn and poet-fireman Sutter wed at the Lodge in Rancho Mirage, a swanky resort in the Southern California desert that, thanks to a major dowry from ABC, closed to the public for four days to prepare for the 300-guest affair.

The average wedding budget in the real world: $20,000; in the reality-TV world that wouldn't even cover Trista and Ryan's florist bill, which included 30,000 roses flown in from Ecuador.

The extravagant nuptials also featured two specially designed Badgley Mischka gowns and $50,000 diamond and platinum Stuart Weitzman shoes for Trista; Kenneth Cole tuxedos for Ryan and the groomsmen; and a lobster dinner for the crowd of well-wishers, which reportedly included the couple's fellow ABC reality contestant Bob "The Bachelor" Guiney.

More wedding details, courtesy of the resort: The couple exchanged vows under a gazebo overlooking the Coachella Valley and spent the week in the caviar- and Dom-stocked presidential suite; the reception feast menu included 200 pounds of shrimp, lobster and crab; a ton of tomatoes; 1,500 pounds of chocolate; 2,800 dinner rolls; 180 bottles of champagne; and 600 bottles of wine chased by 4,300 cups of coffee; plus, various delicacies flown in from 14 countries around the world.

The Sutters--who met when former Miami Heat cheerleader Trista went looking for love in The Bachelorette, a spinoff of the network's Bachelor series--didn't get hitched without a hitch, however.

Trista's former manager Kevin Allyn has filed a lawsuit against the new bride, claiming she owes him a $200,000 commission on the $1 million fee (that's in addition to the wedding costs) that she and her Colorado firefighter hubby were paid for agreeing to let ABC share their very intimate day with millions of viewers.

The newlyweds are probably not thinking about Allyn or the lawsuit, however, as they reportedly left Sunday for a Fiji honeymoon that will last through ABC's two-hour broadcast of their wedding.

And while ABC hopes to get a wedding gift of its own via a ratings win with the finale of its three-part chronicle of the nuptial-planning experience, the network is certainly not the only benefactor of the event.

The Lodge in Rancho Mirage, for instance, has already added libations in honor of the couple to its menu--Trista's Pink Passion and Ryan's Firestorm--and is offering future guests special Trista-and-Ryan spa and wedding packages, which includes the chance to stay in the same suite where the Bachelorette sweeties spent their wedding night. "Trista and Ryan commemorative wedding flutes" come at no extra charge. Score!

Meanwhile, ABC is getting ready for the next Bachelorette, tapping recent Bachelor cast-off Meredith Phillips as the man-hungry wannabe bride. The second installment of The Bachelorette is scheduled to premiere on January 14.

MTV also hopes the fever for everything celeb-wedding-related will invite viewers to its upcoming reality series that chronicles the wacky wedding adventures of rocker Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra. Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave premieres on MTV in January, along with a second season of that other all-star couple, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, on Newlyweds, which premieres January 21. (Bonus trivia: Lachey and Electra are alumni of the same Cincinnati high school. Must be something in the water.)

Meanwhile, if you're still thinking about sending a gift to the newlyweds (the poor kids, they're just starting out!), there's very little left on their Bloomingdale's and Pottery Barn registries online at the WeddingChannel.com.

A Ralph Lauren chenille blanket, silver napkin rings and a $190 cake plate are still on their wish list, but might we suggest something the reality TV couple really needs: a dose of living in the real world sans cameras.
