Diaz's Unhappy B-day Break
Surf's up, er, down for Charlie's richest Angel.
Cameron Diaz, the highest paid actress in the world, and blondest, perkiest member of the modern-day Charlie's Angels triumvirate, broke her nose after wiping out while surfing in Hawaii Saturday--her 31st b-day.
Diaz, who is spending two weeks in the tropical islands with friends and family, was sporting a couple of nose bandages Tuesday when she talked to the Associated Press about her seaside spill.
"I'm fine," she said of the accident, which occurred off Waikiki Beach. "But I'm just totally bummed out because I can't go surfing any more." Totally.
According to the actress' older sister, Chimene, even Cam's butt-kicking Angels prowess wasn't able to save her from the errant surfboard that smacked the actress in the face after she took a spill in the waves.
But big sis saw a silver lining in her sister's unheavenly fall.
Chimene said her superstar sibling could have been more seriously injured if the offending board hadn't been made of foam. She also said the There's Something About Mary babe was making a speedy recovery and that the banged-up schnoz looked much better than it did over the weekend.
As for Diaz, she says she's disappointed the board bash happened early in the trip, but she plans to enjoy her now surf-free respite in paradise anyway.
"I love this place," she told reporters.
And if the sun and sand aren't enough to perk up the star, she can just count her enormous wads of cash. According to the 2004 edition of Guinness World Records, Diaz pulled in a whopping $42.2 million in 2001, beating out former champ and My Best Friend's Wedding costar Julia Roberts.
