SAY UNCLE: Fox News dropping its lawsuit against Al Franken on Monday--three days after a federal judge refused to block publication of Franken's new book, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right, which Fox claimed coopted its "fair and balanced" slogan.

WEDDING BELLS! Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore tying the knot with her long-time beau, film director Bart Fruendlich, Saturday night in New York City.

HAVIN' A GOOD TIME: Former New Jack swinger Bobby Brown arrested on a probation violation Friday night in the Atlanta suburb of Alpharetta, Georgia, while dining with his wife, Whitney Houston. He had been on probation for a misdemeanor drunk-driving charge.

HE'S EVERYWHERE: First radio, then MTV, then NBC, now Carson Daly is launching his own label, 456 Entertainment. Daly tells E! Online that he is recruiting talent through his Website, www.456entertainment.com.

STILL HACKING IT: Not threatened by any new major competition Freddy vs. Jason stayed number one, but lost 64 percent of its debut weekend, earning $13.2 million over this traditionally low grossing dog-days-of-summer weekend.

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS: Everybody Loves Raymond executive producer Phil Rosenthal digging into his own pockets to cover the production crew's salary after the stars' demands shut down production two weeks ago, reports Variety. Insurance covered all but $80,000 in weekly wages.

NICE TRY: Morgan Creek axing The Exorcist IV: The Beginning director Paul Schrader because the movie lacked blood and guts, reports the New York Post. The studio plans to hire a new director to reshoot some scenes.

CODA: Schizophrenic punk rocker Wesley Willis, a frequent guest on the Howard Stern Show, died Thursday. Willis had been suffering from leukemia but a cause of death was not immediately released. He was 40.

REUNITED: Iggy Pop reuniting with his punk band the Stooges for their first live performance in New York since the '70s at LIFEbeat, an AIDS organization benefit on August 27, as part of the MTV Video Music Awards preshow events.

THEY GOT SOUL: Neo-soul duo Floetry snagging best single and album by a group and rapper Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot winning best song of the year and music video at the 2003 Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards Saturday night.

GUITAR LICKS: Jimi Hendrix leading Rolling Stones' list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time followed by Duane Allman and B.B. King. Rounding out the top ten are Eric Clapton, Robert Johnson, Chuck Berry, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ry Cooder, Jimmy Page and Keith Richards.

FROM THE VAULT: Live unedited footage of The Beatles performing on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 and 1965 uncovered in TV vaults. The long lost material will be available on a double DVD The Ed Sullivan Shows Featuring The Beatles.

POSTHUMOUS RELEASE: Streetcore, a new album from the Clash's late frontman Joe Strummer and his new band the Mescaleros, to be released October 21. Stummer passed away last December of a heart attack.

RECOVERED: Mick Jagger recovering from a bout of the flu to join the Rolling Stones on stage Sunday for their first English date on their world Licks tour.

TAX MAN: Ruben Studdard performing two free concerts in Alabama next month on behalf of the state's governor, who's promoting tax increase proposals. A total of 18,800 tickets ran out in less than half an hour. Studdard has not come out in favor or against the proposal.

NOT HIS BABY: Courtney Love's mother, Linda Carroll, denying British tabloid reports that Marlon Brando is Love's grandfather. The tabs claim the info was scooped from Carroll's memoirs to be published in 2005.

LAUGH IT UP: American Demetri Martin taking top honors Sunday at the 23rd Perrier Comedy Award, one of Britain's most prestigious comedy performance awards.
