Sandra Bullock Stalked?
Sandra Bullock is putting a man on something more serious than two weeks' notice.
The actress has obtained a temporary restraining order against a Thomas James Weldon, accusing him of stalking her in California, Michigan and Texas, Los Angeles Superior Court records show.
A Los Angeles court commissioner granted Bullock's request on Friday. She was not present at the hearing. Neither was Weldon. Per the court, it's believed he's in the L.A. area, but the last face-to-face contact a law-enforcement official had with him was in January 2002 in Austin, Texas, where Bullock owns a ranch.
It was unknown if Weldon, said to be 34, had been served with the temporary restraining order, or if he had a lawyer.
Bullock's complaint alleges Weldon has harassed her "in excess of one year" via emails, faxes, telephone calls and letters. Correspondence from Weldon--"tons and tons of weird letters," a source said--is said to account for most of the case's half-inch-thick file.
Weldon is also accused of becoming "increasingly vigilant" in his alleged pursuit of Bullock, following her from state to state, according to court documents.
A June 6 date has been set for a hearing on a permanent restraining order.
Bullock's rep declined comment on Monday. Weldon could not be located for comment.
Bullock, 38, like other A-listers, is no stranger to the non-perks of fame. In 1997, the Calgary Sun reported the Miss Congeniality star was nearly abducted during a shopping trip by a man who'd deluged her with love letters.
Other celebs with recent crowd control issues include: Lenny Kravitz, host to a reputed party crasher at his Miami Beach home; Janet Jackson, sued for defamation by a man she accused of harassing her; and Britney Spears, making peace with an "avid fan" she once sought a restraining order against.
