"CSI: Miami" Adds to Crime Squad
There could be some real chemistry in the forensic lab next season.
Producers of CSI: Miami appear to be hoping that Sofia Milos will ignite sparks opposite David Caruso on the CBS crime scene investigation series.
Since Kim Delaney turned out to be a squib and swiftly departed the hit franchise, the scene has been wide open for another eye-catching female opposite Caruso's Det. Horatio Cane. Beginning in February, Milos has had a recurring role as Latino detective Yelina Salas; next fall, Salas will be a full-time member of the squad.
An ex-beauty pageant winner and onetime model, glamorous brunette Milos (pronounced--according to her Website, www.sofiamilos.com--MEE-loz) is often cast in flashy, sexy roles. She was the tough Neapolitan Mafia boss, Annalisa Zucca, not at all afraid of Tony Soprano or anyone else on The Sopranos. In a January ER episode, she was a trophy wife whose lovemaking pushed her nonagenarian husband to the brink of death. Her sitcom work includes Aurora, the beautiful woman with whom Matthew Perry was obsessed in a 1995 episode of Friends titled "The One With the Butt," and Sarah, a potential other woman who intrigued Paul Reiser in Mad About You. She was also the spoiled Italian model in the brief-lived Valerie Bertinelli sitcom Café Americain, and from 1997 to '98, Julia, Richard's wealthy Italian wife on Caroline in the City.
Born in Switzerland to a Greek mother and Italian father, and raised in Italy, Milos speaks many languages: Italian, English, Greek, German, French, and, usefully for her CSI: Miami role, Spanish.
While the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation holds firm as the top-rated drama on all networks, averaging 26.9 million viewers in its third season, CSI: Miami is a solid hit at number 13 with an average of 16.8 million tuning in each week, making it the top-rated new drama this season.
