Olsen Twins Ain't Headed to College

The Olsens' full house could soon be an empty nest, if you believe the Web rumors.

Claims that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have applied and been admitted to various colleges, including Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Cincinnati, University of Miami and University of Dayton, have run rampant on the Web this week.

But before you consider transferring to one of these fine colleges based on the Olsens' attendance (? la Felicity chasing Ben cross-country), beware: The matriculation stories are bunk, according to the twins' publicist, Michael Pagnotta.

The colleges' admissions boards were swamped with calls when emails linked to a phony CNN Website announced the Olsens had been admitted to various schools. The site has since been removed from the Web.

An email announcing the Olsens' acceptance to Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York said the twins picked the school for its strong academic reputation and excellent business program. Pagnotta was falsely quoted as saying the girls were looking "for a school where they would not be distracted by the glitz of Hollywood and could focus on long term career goals."

Instead, the former Full House stars, who are only high school juniors, are "studying for their SATs," says the real Pagnotta. The rep confirmed that the 16-year-old twins, who still live with their mother, "are considering an East Coast college but haven't made any decisions yet."

Not that the colleges wouldn't be happy to welcome the pint-size titans, whose estimated worth is a whopping $76 million. "We'd be happy to give them a tour if they want to stop by, and we might even buy them lunch," University of Cincinnati spokesman Greg Hand told the Associated Press on Wednesday.

Likewise, University of Miami spokeswoman Holly Wissing said, "We're expecting 13,000 applications this year...for 3,450 slots, but we'd be happy to have 13,002 applications." And, proving that college spokespeople are really just frustrated stand-ups, University of Dayton rep Teri Rizvi told AP, "They didn't apply. And Britney Spears isn't coming either."

As toddlers, the twins shared the role of Michelle Tanner on ABC's Full House. Not even old enough for a learner's permit, the girls went on to create their own production company Dualstar Entertainment Group, which produced their bestselling straight-to-video series The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley and You're Invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley's.

The twins have since branded their look-alike mugs into a multi-million dollar empire of Olsen-inspired merchandise, including books, videogames and dolls. The underage entrepreneurs also launched a clothing line at Wal-Mart and briefly ran their own magazine before publisher H&S Media went out of business. The company should've taken a pointer or two from the twins.
