FOUL! Former NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman arrested at home in Southern California today for allegedly assaulting a woman. The 41-year-old is due in court Monday.

BEAUTIFUL VOWS: Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly wed her Beautiful Mind costar Paul Bettany over the holidays in Scotland, her publicist says. It's a first marriage for both actors.

OF THE PEOPLE: Mega-watt stars Jennifer Aniston, Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts among the nominees for Sunday's People's Choice Awards, broadcast live on CBS.

LET IT BE: The original master tapes of the Beatles' 1969 Get Back recording sessions were recovered by British police officers today. The raids in London and Amsterdam resulted in the arrest of five people. So far only pirated copies of the Fab Four playing on the 500 reel-to-reel tapes have been available for sale.

PSYCHIC P.I.: Former NYPD Blue star Andrea Thompson, who briefly dabbled as a news anchor on CNN's Headline News, will star in a new CourtTV show called Psychic Detectives about crimes solved with psychic assistance.

IN THE MAIL: Nomination ballots have been mailed to the 5,816 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences this week. The completed ballots are due back at PricewaterhouseCoopers by January 29 to be tabulated for the February 11 nomination announcements.

CHILD'S PLAY: A children's book based on the rags-to-riches story of R. Kelly, titled I Can Fly! (The R. Kelly Story), is being reissued by publisher Unique Expressions. Kelly was busted on 21 counts of child pornography after a videotape surfaced allegeldy showing him having sex with a teenage girl.

SPOKESMODELS: Coca-Cola has tapped Courteney Cox Arquette, her hubby David, Pen?lope Cruz and singer Mya for its new "Real" campaign. The celebs will be featured in real-life scenarios enjoying the fizzy beverage. The first 90-second commercial, starring Mya and hip-hopster Common, airs Monday during the American Music Awards.

NO-SHOW: Don't look for Diana Ross at her Arizona arraignment hearing on charges of drunk driving next week. The diva filed a written plea (innocent, of course) which means she and her lawyer can skip the court date.

SEE YA: High-powered music mogul Tommy Mottola announced Thursday that he would leave his post as chairman and CEO of Sony Music to start his own label. The exec, who joined the company 14 years ago, helped launch the careers of divas Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Jennifer Lopez, among others. Andrew Lack, NBC's president and COO, has been tapped to take over as Mottola's successor.

COMMERCIAL-FREE: Producer Michael Davies (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?) developing a live variety show for the WB that would feature heavy product placement in lieu of commercials. Sponsors for the summer series include Pepsi and Nokia, reports the New York Times.

HEAVENLY: In the race to Oscar, the Chicago Film Critics Association chose to back Far From Heaven as their best-of-2002 this week. The film's star Julianne Moore won Best Actress, while the movie earned nods for Best Supporting Actor (Dennis Quaid), Best Director (Todd Haynes), Original Score and Cinematography. Meanwhile, Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for Gangs of New York.

THE ROCK: Brad Pitt to produce and possibly star in The Madman of Alcatraz about the psychiatrist who treats a murderous prisoner dubbed the Birdman, reports Variety. Burt Lancaster played the bird-loving criminal in 1963's Birdman of Alcatraz.

LOONY TUNES: Halle Berry and Pen?lope Cruz set to star in Gothika a psychological thriller. Berry plays a criminal psychologist incarcerated for a murder she can't remember committing. Cruz plays a fellow mental patient.

MORE CASTING NEWS: Who loves ya baby? Ving Rhames does as the actor prepares to star as the lollipop-sucking Lieutenant Theo Kojak in a USA Network made-for-TV movie.

ALL GROWN UP: TV producer who introduced the world to SpongeBob SquarePants, Albie Hecht, tapped to become president of cable net TNN.

HUSH-HUSH: Robert Blake's lawyer is seeking a gag order to keep the actor's deposition out of the press. Blake is due to give his statement to lawyers representing his slain wife next week. The Baretta star was arrested last April for the alleged murder of his wife Bonny Lee Bakley.

NFL UPDATE: No Doubt is the latest musical act tapped to appear at the Super Bowl in San Diego next month. The group will join previously announced performer Shania Twain during the halftime show.
