Madonna's Concert Freebie

The Materialistic One is doing her bit for charity.

Preparing for what will likely be her first extended concert swing since 1993's Girlie Tour, Madonna has announced she will perform at a free one night stand November 5 at New York City's legendary Roseland Ballroom.

"This is a chance for me to get my feet wet on the stage again and a way to say thank you to an intimate group of my fans for all their support over the years," she says in a statement. "It's a party that 3,000 people are invited to, and I am going to sing a few songs at my party."

Of course, tickets must be obtained through radio station promotions to gain entrance to her party--hardly something Emily Post would approve of.

Nonetheless, Madonna has plenty of party favors in store. Former Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros frontman Perry Farrell will play deejay, as will vocalist Beth Orton. Everlast and DJ Deepdish will also be partying down, and Madonna promises a slew of other "surprise guests." (No word on whether Lourdes or Rocco will be among the invitees.)

Tickets for the event will be given away by radio stations in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

The mother of two may say she wants to "get her feet wet," but her publicist cautions the Roseland Show is not an immediate precursor to a big tour, although there are plans for a similar Madonna gala to be held at London's Brixton Academy in November, as well as a series of small club dates in other Euro cities.

The superstar's latest release, Music, recently reached double platinum status from the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of 2 million. In addition, the title track, which topped Billboard's Hot 100 chart for four weeks, was also certified platinum.

Both the album and the single reached number one at the same time, marking the third time in Madonna's career she has dominated both charts simultaneously.
