STILL SCARY! Beach activists in Los Angeles complaining that the menacing movie posters for Jaws' 25th anniversary DVD release are terrorizing young children and non-English-speaking beachgoers who mistake the ads for a shark warning.
RAPPED: Nate Dogg was charged in a Los Angeles County courtroom Friday with kidnapping, making terrorist threats and arson. The charges stem from a June arrest in which the rapper was accused of holding a woman against her will. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
REMEMBERED: Meredith MacRae, aka cutie Billie Jo Bradley in Petticoat Junction, died Friday from brain cancer. She was 56.
MOTOR CITY MELEE: Following through on his threat, Dr. Dre filing a $25 million federal civil rights suit against Detroit claiming city officials bullied him into not playing a raunchy video during a concert there.
WHAT'S IN A NAME? A Long Island magician with the stage name Gandalf has settled a bitter seven-year-court battle with the estate of Lord of the Rings' author J.R.R. Tolkien over the name. Magician Michael Kaplan argued that Gandalf is in the public domain because it comes from 10th century Norse mythology.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: Sandra Bullock signing on to star in the Columbia Pictures' thriller Enough, about a wife who, after marrying the man of her dreams, discovers that he's abusive and is forced to flee the relationship. No director is yet attached.
