Idol's Taylor Hicks Goes Indie

Taylor Hicks is adding to the recent surge of news to come from otherwise forgotten American Idol types, announcing his next album will drop Feb. 10, 2009.

After getting dumped by J Records earlier this year, the season-five Idol champ will be releasing the still-untitled album through the indie company Artist to Market with an assist from his own label, Modern Whomp Records, to "connect more directly with audiences."

The Silver Fox has already begun work on the follow-up to his platinum-selling debut, teaming with producer Simon Climie, who has previously collaborated with the likes of Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and Faith Hill.

"I'm very much enjoying being in the studio with Simon and working on the new album and look forward to releasing it," says Hicks

No doubt Hicks is looking forward to the release. The question is, is he the only one?
