While promoting her new memoir, Through the Storm, on Wednesday's Today show, Lynne Spears spoke candidly about how life has been a "whirlwind" ever since daughter Britney first broke out on the scene.

"It's been a wild ride for everybody," she told Meredith Vieira. "She's out there, she's with the crowds and with her peer groups, and she's doing things. She's a celebrity, for heaven's sake…I have sat for hours, thinking about everything that's happened."

When asked if, in hindsight, she wishes she could go back and do things differently during those early stages of her career, Lynne says, "Of course!" But, she qualifies, it wasn't "feasible" to always be with Britney given that, as a single mother, she had Britney's sister, Jamie Lynn, to raise.

As for Britney's eventual unraveling, Lynne says, "It was so crazy. We were just trying to do what we could do at that moment in time. We were praying very hard. It seemed like we had no control over what was happening."

In spite of it all, though, Lynne says things have definitely turned around for the better.

"She's strong. She's resilient. She's had some big bumps in the road, but Britney's fine. Britney is headed to the top once again, and I have no fears about Britney."
