Never go against the family. Especially the holy one.

The priest charged with stalking Conan O'Brien has been officially renounced by the Boston Archdiocese after violating his superior's orders—not to mention the wishes of medical professionals and, we presume, O'Brien himself—by checking out of the medical treatment facility where he has been receiving care for the past several months.

The Rev. David Ajemian was placed on leave from the church in November 2007. The AWOL priest was recently declared "no longer able to exercise public ministry"; the Archdiocese is now putting the kibosh on his financial support as well.

Here's hoping he saved some of that tithe.

In a statement, the Archdiocese said that Ajemian, "against the wishes of his bishop…and medical professionals, checked himself out of a medical facility," thereby breaking the promise of obedience he made back in 2001.

Maybe he forgot to read the fine print on that vow.

By checking out, Ajemian "has violated this mandate…Therefore, he is Absent Without Permission. He is not authorized to function as a priest."

And though the Archdiocese has professionally and financially turned its back on the now defrocked priest, who pleaded guilty in April  to disorderly conduct and agreed to stay away from O'Brien for two years, it's still keeping the troubled man in its collective thoughts.

"We pray for Fr. Ajemian, for his family and for all those who are concerned about his health and well-being. We also pray for those who have been impacted by Fr. Ajemian's actions."

Last month, while visiting family and doctors in Gloucester, Ajemian was also accused of sending "very disturbing" letters to 60-year-old actress Lindsay Crouse, the ex-wife of prolific playwright David Mamet. The incident is under investigation.
