Sixes were wild for Café Tacuba this morning as the Mexican alternarockers led all contenders for the 9th Annual Latin Grammy Awards, snagging six nominations, including Album of the Year for their sixth studio release, Sino.

The group, founded in Naucalpan in 1989 and known for a combining Mexican folk traditions with rock, electronic and punk, also scored nods for Best Alternative Album, Best Alternative Song for "Volver a Comenzar" and Song of the Year and Best Rock Song for "Esta Vez."

Colombian crooner Juanes and Argentinian producer Gustavo Santaolalla tied with five noms apiece. Argentinian musician Andrés Calamaro, Puerto Rican singer Kany García and pop songbird Julieta Venegas each racked up four nods. Gloria Estefan, who is contending in three categories, was also named the Latin Grammy Person of the Year for her "philanthropic, professional and cultural accomplishments."

This year's ceremony will take place Nov. 13 in Houston and air live on the Spanish-language network Univision.
