David Cook Laces Up Shoe Deal

David Cook, Skechers ad Skechers

You might not be able to sing like David Cook, but at least you can now walk in shoes.

The reigning American Idol champ has just scored a global endorsement deal with Skechers, the shoe company announced today.

Skechers uses Cook's tousled image to advertise its line of casual footwear through December 2009, including newly branded Skechers' styles "that will reflect his personality, interests and appeal."

The 25-year-old singer-songwriter will begin appearing in a fall campaign tied to the release of his first post-Idol album and the continuing American Idols Live! Tour 2008.

“I have always viewed Skechers as a cool company, so I am excited to be a part of their campaign,” said Cook, who will be popping up on billboards and in print ads and in-store one-sheets.

No word on how much the pact is worth.

The budding hitmaker is following in the footsteps of fellow Idol champ Carrie Underwood, who was the face of Skechers back in 2005. Over the years, Robert Downey Jr., Christina Aguilera, Rob Lowe, Matt Dillon, Ashlee Simpson and Britney Spears have lent their famous faces—and feet—to the shoemaker's promotional efforts.
