Lynne Spears' Storm Is A-Comin'

Lynne Spears, Through the Storm Thomas Nelson

Through the Storm, Lynne Spears' memoir about the trials and tribulations surrounding her daughters' lives in the spotlight, is due out next week, but the author tells People that Britney "has yet to read it."

Well, let's hope the tell-all isn't too toxic then.

After all, it would be a shame if the book's content was to somehow affect mom's relationship with the pop star, which Lynne says "has undergone a tremendous healing."

Jamie Lynn, however, "loved the book," says Lynne. "I started to cry because I told her, 'I wanted so much for you to like it.' And she got up and kissed me on the cheek and said, 'Mama, thank you so much.' "

And while she admits to not being "the perfect mom," Lynne believes she did the right thing in allowing her kids to seek stardom.

"I think you have to let them follow their dreams," insists Lynne. "I think it would be worse in the end if you didn't."

As for her reason for writing the book in the first place, she says, "I wanted the truth out in my own words for myself and my family."
