LifetimeA made-for-TV movie about Drew Peterson won't see the light of day, if he has anything to do with it.
The former cop, who's charged with the murder of his third wife and the disappearance of his fourth, is trying to halt production of the Rob Lowe-starring biopic, arguing that its contents are "character assassination" and will taint potential jury pools, E! News confirmed.
Peterson's lawyers threatened Lowe, costar Kaley Cuoco and Lifetime Entertainment with legal action Wednesday in a cease and desist letter that demanded production end on Ladykiller: The Drew Peterson Story by 5 p.m. Friday and that all gross revenues "attributed to unauthorized uses" from the project be turned over to him.
"First and foremost, we want to make sure Drew gets an unbiased jury pool," Peterson's defense attorney, Joel Brodsky, told the Chicago Sun-Times. "But even after the trial, if these people are making money from the use of his name, why shouldn't Drew get some of that money? It's his story."
But that wasn't all of Peterson's requests.
"Drew asked me to get a picture of Rob Lowe made up to look like him," Brodsky said. "So I sent him the picture. He just wanted to see it. He was curious."
Meanwhile, Peterson is awaiting trial—he's served 27 months in Will County Jail in Joliet, Ill.
Lifetime had no comment on the matter.
