Whoops! Fox News' Latest Gaffe Identifies Tina Fey as Sarah Palin

Cable news net apologizes after confusing the former Republican vice presidential candidate with her comedian doppelgänger

You'd think Fox News would recognize its own presidential candidate employee.

Apparently not.

The conservative-leaning cable news channel ended up with egg on its face while covering Sarah Palin's heavily hyped One Nation bus tour when it aired a picture of 30 Rock star Tina Fey impersonating the half-term governor instead of the real thing.

The oops, first caught by Mediaite, can be seen briefly in a clip from Fox News' America's Election Headquarters debating whether Palin will be a Republican presidential contender. During the segment, producers featured a graphic of the funnylady reprising her dead-on imitation of Mama Grizzly for a Saturday Night Live sketch.

After word of the news fail leaked out, David Clark, Fox News' executive producer of weekend programming, issued an immediate mea culpa.

"This past Sunday during America's News Headquarters, a graphics error was made during a segment on former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin," Clark said in a statement. "The producer has since been disciplined and an explanation and apology will be made in the same hour next Sunday. Fox News regrets the error."

Now if only they can stop mixing up Obama and Osama.
