TwitterAshton Kutcher was temporarily deposed as leader of his Twitter Nation this week.
"Ashton, you've been Punk'd. This account is not secure. Dude, where's my SSL?" wrote the computer nerd who bothered to tap into @aplusk while the actor was attending TED2011 (a tech and innovation conference) in Long Beach, Calif.
Presumably the hacker didn't get at any of Kutcher's account numbers or other top-secret info. But what about the bikini pics of Demi?!
"P.S. This is for those young protesters around the world who deserve not to have their Facebook & Twitter accounts hacked like this. #SSL," the hacker added, the "SSL" referring to a form of network security called a secure sockets layer.
So apparently the mild offender just wanted to send a message, and didn't mean to screw with Kutcher in any more nefarious way other than to get a hold of his 6,403,616 followers.
The No Strings Attached star, who in 2009 notably reached 1 million Twitter followers before CNN did (though the goal wasn't reached in 24 hours), was back behind the wheel of his twit ship last night, presumably after changing his password, shoring up his firewall, etc.
"Kudos to the clever one but nothing a little diplomacy couldn't resolve. @aplusk is back in the saddle," Kutcher assured his fans.
But it's the unknown hacker who has rode off into the sunset, mission accomplished.
