When Elizabeth Banks signed on to play a woman sent to the slammer in The Next Three Days, the actress insisted on getting a taste of what that might be like. No, she didn't all of a sudden turn to a life of crime, but opted instead to innocently go to a prison where she not only talked with about 40 female inmates, but actually got placed briefly behind bars as well.

In this exclusive look at a behind-the-scenes clip from the movie's upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release, Banks recalls her time spent there.

"I got locked up in a cell and I almost burst into tears," Banks says. "It was horrible. And I knew I was going to get out! So, the first thing I asked the inmates that I got to meet was, 'Did you sleep the first night?' They all said no, nobody sleeps the first night and most of them didn't sleep the first week. You just can't believe that you're in there."

See if the experience paid off for Banks when The Next Three Days (costarring Russell Crowe and Liam Neeson) hits video stores on Tuesday.
