Religious tattoos are nothing new. Neither is honoring one's family by way of body art.

But a father comparing his relationship with his sons to the Resurrection? That's heavy stuff.

So which superstar athlete just added this "really amazing" piece of ink to his already pretty impressive collection of tattoos?

Next time you're ogling David Beckham's pecs, don't forget to check out his new Renaissance-style tat.

The soccer stud has posted a Facebook video explaining the fresh ink on the left side of his chest, a picture of Jesus being lifted out of his tomb by three cherubs.

"Obviously, the cherubs are boys, so my thought of it is, you know, at some point, my boys are going to need to look after me, and that's what they're doing in the picture," Beckham says. "It means a lot. Everything has a meaning that I've got on me."

Becks and wife Victoria have three boys—Cruz, 6; Romeo, 8; and Brooklyn, 11—and another child on the way.

His newest tattoo is the work of West Hollywood tattoo artist Mark Mahoney, who also counts Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp among his clients.

"I had it done three months ago, before I left LA," Beckham said. "I don't plan on having a tattoo, but just sometimes I wake up with an idea or an image of what I would like on me. It's my way of expressing the way I'm feeling. Most of my tattoos are memories or things that mean a lot to me.

‘It was an eight-hour session which lasted until about three o'clock in the morning. I then went back a few weeks later and we did another four hours. It's really amazing."
