OK, so Joan Rivers isn't Sarah Palin's biggest fan.

Actually, she told TMZ that the former governor of Alaska should "go to another planet...and get out of our face," and that critics are right in blaming Palin for the shooting in Tuscon.

After which, Rivers' Thursday-morning appearance with daughter Melissa on Fox News' Fox & Friends was abruptly canceled.

Rumor has it that Fox dumped her in retaliation for insulting one of its own. It's a stretch, but this rumor is...

Well, it was true for awhile!

According to Rivers' rep, Judy Katz, a booking producer did indeed tell them that the Fashion Police sergeant's caustic comments got them bumped from the show.

But that totally wasn't the case, according to Fox.

"Due to the volume of news topics tomorrow morning and a full show, our booker mistakenly canceled Joan's appearance instead of re-scheduling her for Friday's show," Fox & Friends executive producer Lauren Petterson said in a statement to E! News. "We're in the process of booking her on an upcoming show."

And Katz says that Petterson later called Rivers to get her booked for Friday and explained that the booker "should have never said" that the Palin comments had anything to do with the postponement.

But Rivers, who can't make it Friday, had already tweeted about the perceived slam.

"Outcome: DON'T PISS OFF SARAH PALIN. She's apparently 'very powerful,' and is obviously still smarting from the end of her reality show," Rivers wrote earlier today. "I was cancelled from Fox for saying Palin is 'stupid and a threat'. Wait till I REALLY shock them with Aretha Franklin is a bit chubby!"

But there are no hard feelings, Katz adds, and they will be happy to appear on Fox & Friends on a date that works for everybody.

"They will definitely go on because they want to promote their reality show," Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best, she says.
