Two days after the release of Britney Spears's newest single, "Hold It Against Me," we can say we're a little bored.
Aren't you?
Well, let's remember, Brit is already queen of the No. 1 slot on iTunes, and despite her epic breakdown in 2008, her more recent successes prove the world is no longer holding anything against her. As they shouldn't. Brit's the best. She always gives us a great show, plus she throws a little shock value.
Just no more, huh?
If "Hold" is any indication, we fear B.Spears has adopted a plug-and-chug formula for turning out a hit song. Where's the formerly vibrant Britney?
We loved the upbeat dance ballads on her CD, Blackout, and kept her techno-sexy single, "3", on repeat for a damn eternity. Was hot! This new stuff from Spears? Eh, isn't it being done better by, say, Katy Perry?
Mrs. Brand, the new pop princess, has hit hugely with fun songs like "California Gurls" and "Teenage Dream," and Katy always stays true to the invincible-but-love-sick teenage dream. Just like Britney used to always shock us with that oh no she didunt sexy purr-growl.
Now it's just getting repetitive. And predictable. Hell, even barely legal Miley Cyrus is starting to growl better!
Come back to the shocking body-and-brain warp you do so well, Ms. S., please!
