Finally, some good news for Spider-Man fans: Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy are up for an award! Um, against each other. Geez, Spidey fans really can't catch a break, can they?

While the discerning film lovers over at BAFTA HQ are still whittling down their long list of nominees in advance of their official announcement next week, they teased Anglophile cinema-goers this morning with the unveiling of its sole finalized category: the 2011 Orange Rising Star Award, aka the award for the best hot young thing to hit our screens last year.

And the lucky talented five nominees are…

The unstoppable Social Network scored its seemingly requisite nod, as Andrew Garfield (soon to be the next Peter Parker) finds himself against Inception's Tom Hardy and Kick Ass' Aaron Johnson as the guy nominees.

As for the ladies, Bond girl Gemma Arterton—not exactly a newcomer, but whatever—earned her nomination for Tamara Drewe. Not widely released yet in the U.S., the film is based on the same named graphic novel and is a quaintly English pastoral comedy of manners about a newspaper writer who returns to her hometown as her childhood home goes up for sale.

Rounding out the list of contenders is Emma Stone (the soon-to-be Gwen Stacy), who was honored for Easy A. Which means that Golden Globe nomination was no fluke, friends.

So who's gonna take this one home? Get your Spidey senses ready—or, just tune in to the BAFTAs when they take place in London Feb. 13 and find out who took home the night's only public-voted prize. As for the rest of the nominations, they will be formally announced on Jan. 18.
