This must've yielded quite the "oi, oi, oi," from an Aussie, Aussie, Aussie.
In the midst of filming her "Ultimate Australian Adventure" from the Sydney Opera House (which in her honor has been renamed—wait for it—the Oprah House) today, Oprah Winfrey went and broke one of her favorite things.
And that thing was Hugh Jackman.
The ever-game and annoyingly talented Oz man was making a grand entrance onto the show by ziplining over the thousands-strong crowd, winding up onstage with Oprah. Or at least, that's where he should have wound up had all gone according to plan.
Instead, he ended his stunt with a thud and, at the very least, we're guessing, a black eye, as he collided with either a lighting rig or a portion of the stage as he was making his quite accelerated descent.
"We should get a doctor up here," Oprah said. "Let's take a break and get some ice…then get his eye fixed up."
Filming naturally stopped while stagehands worked to get the dangling and injured movie star down. Once on solid ground, he was given a towel to cover his bleeding eye and a glass of red wine to cover his nerves (gotta love those Aussies) and taken backstage by paramedics.
He emerged with a significant cut under his right eye, but trooper that he is, got bandaged up and ordered the cameras rolling once again to continue on with his appearance.
"That was so much fun until the end," he joked. (See? He's fine! Exhale, ladies!)
"I came down waving to everyone, looking over Sydney Harbor, saw my dad, the kids and you, went to pull the brake and then boing," he explained.
Hugh was one of many famous Australians on hand for the Oprah event, along with Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Russell Crowe and Steve Irwin's family. Flying the flag for the ol' U.S. of A. during the trip were (for some reason) Bon Jovi and Jay-Z.
There's no word on whether Jackman's stunt gone awry will make the cut when The Oprah Winfrey Show airs her Down Under itinerary sometime next year. But then again, it's not as if anyone with access to YouTube won't have seen it by then anyway.
