Tron: Legacy doesn't open until Dec. 17, but we can't help but think plans are underway for a third flick.

While nothing's formal just yet…

Joseph Kosinski, director of the much buzzed-about followup to the 1982 movie, tells me it's certainly an option.

"I think we've set up a world that has a lot of possibility and potential," he says. "We don't save anything in the movie, and I think I put in everything that I possibly could, but I feel like the ending is open enough that you could wonder, What's next?"

Kosinski and Disney screened the completed movie for the first time last night in Los Angeles. (Yes, I was there but I'm embargoed to give my review until Dec. 5). Jeff Bridges reprises his role as tech guru Kevin Flynn, but also plays his nemesis Clu. Garrett Hedlund stars as Flynn's son Sam, with Olivia Wilde as Quorra. Michael Sheen and James Frain round out the cast.

Would Kosinski, who makes his feature film directorial debut with Tron, want to take on another? "That's hard to say two days after I finished this," he says. "I just finished it Wednesday morning. It's a crazy time, but I think with a little time away I would absolutely love to come back. "
