Sort of.

Mel Gibson arrived at Los Angeles Superior Court around 8:40 this morning for his anticipated showdown with former ex-gal-pal and baby mama, Oksana Grigorieva.

Let the fireworks begin.

While the two were together last week as Gibson was deposed in their ongoing custody fight over daughter Lucia, this is the first time they've been together in a public place in months.

Wearing a gray suit, gray shirt and striped tie, and chomping on some gum, a somber-looking Gibson was escorted through the hallway and into Judge Scott Gordon's courtroom.

Grigorieva followed 15 minutes later, sporting an untucked black blouse and black skirt.

Both declined to speak to reporters on the way in.

Because today's proceedings involve a minor, Gordon immediately kicked everyone out and closed the court to the public.

Per TMZ, Grigorieva's camp plans to ask the judge to require the Lethal Weapon to see a therapist for anger-management issues. Her attorneys also will petition the court to alter the current overnight visitation rights allowing their year-old daughter to stay with Gibson two nights a week until a court-approved psychologist determines he does not present a danger to her.

So far, Grigorieva, who's seeking sole custody of their child, has failed to have her requests approved to restrict Gibson's parental rights.

Gordon has granted Gibson full unsupervised visitation, despite Grigorieva's claims that he physically abused both her and Lucia earlier this year, ugly allegations made public in those controversial leaked recordings over the summer.

The custody case is separate, of course, from the domestic violence investigation involving Gibson and his accusations that Grigorieva tried to extort millions from him by threatening to released his taped rants.

We're sure today will be nice and calm.
