Yes, they're talking to Robert De Niro.

A year after best buddy and longtime collaborator Martin Scorsese picked up the prize, tthe iconic actor has been tapped to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

To paraphrase the Hollywood Foreign Press, De Niro is da bomb.

The folks behind the Globes say they are saluting the 67-year-old De Niro for "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field."

De Niro scored a Globe for his most acclaimed role, boxer Jake La Matta in Scorsese's Raging Bull, and was nominated for Best Actor another seven times.

The two-time Oscar winner is considered one of the greatest movie actors of all time, with credits that include Mean Streets, The Godfather Part II, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Raging Bull, Once Upon a Time In America, Brazil, The Untouchables, Goodfellas, Cape Fear, Heat and more recently Meet the Parents.

He joins an esteemed list of DeMille recipients that includes  Harrison Ford, Warren Beatty, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Williams, Michael Douglas, Gene Hackman, Al PacinoClint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg.

For those keeping score, Barbara Streisand was the last woman to collect the accolade, while Sydney Poitier was the last minority winner, way back in 1982.

De Niro's next film, the sequel Little Fockers, hits theaters around Christmas.

Nominations for the 2011 Golden Globes will be announced on Dec. 14 and the ceremony will take place Jan. 16 and air live on NBC.
