As he was laid up in a New York hospital yesterday following his "severe allergic reaction" to something, Charlie Sheen had one question.

"What are they saying?" he texted to E! News just after 3 p.m. local time, before he hopped on a private plane back to L.A.

After we dutifully recounted the day's reports, this is how Sheen responded:

"I got nothing to say about it sweetie," he texted after landing last night.

"Thank U for your concern. . . XO"

No charges have been filed against Sheen, though he's expected to have one hefty hotel bill based on photos of the trashed room that popped up today on TMZ.com.

Per sources close to the scandal-magnet star, he has decided that he doesn't need another trip to rehab right away. Instead, he will head right back to work for a movie cameo in She Wants Me! with Hilary Duff and then return to his Two and a Half Men day job this week.

Meanwhile, ex-wife Denise Richards, who was staying in the Eloise Suite across the hall at the Plaza hotel with their daughters, Sam and Lola, has been making the talk-show rounds.

"The details of what went on in the room, what went on that night, I prefer to keep private and personal," she said on the Today show.

"My daughters are very unaware of what happened. We're really trying to protect them. This is Charlie's…if he wants to discuss it, I'll let him do it. But at the moment, I don't want to say anything."

And, based on his texts to us, neither does Charlie.
