Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal are cozying up, and some overly eager types are already calling them a couple.

We're sayin': Not so fast. All this went down in the Big Apple over the weekend, for all eyes to so easily see:

The age-defying twosome (Jake is nine years Tay's senior), was spotted slightly flirting on Saturday backstage at a Saturday Night Live taping, which was hosted by Swift's BFF Emma Stone. Sunday's schedule called for a stroll through Brooklyn's Park Slope area, holding hands and sharing starry-eyed gazes, Life & Style reports.

So is this some legit hand-holding or just a setup stroll for all you shutterbugs?

Definitely not your classic case of the love bug.

I mean, Tay is pretty famous for dating for the moment, not the long term. (Taylor Lautner, anyone?)

The emosh songbird is hand-in-hand with yummy hunks—and it seems she's never holding on too tight. Or is she?

Jake and Taylor walked into Al Di La restaurant in Brooklyn on Sunday for an early lunch date with Emma, and they sat side-by-side the whole time.

Tay, who was sportin' some heavy makeup and looking rather stiff and uncomfortable in the Brooklyn hot spot, managed to throw in a few smiles and laughs.

Jake played the cool, older guy as he chatted with the waiters and couldn't stop smiling. Plus, our sources say he was looking super hot and proud of himself in his classic V-neck and sleek aviators.

But it's hard to believe the duo is deliriously in lust, love or even like. Seems more like a PR dream stunt with a hint of jealousy thrown in, if you ask us!

Especially since last week Jake's ex, Reese Witherspoon, was rumored to be tying the knot with her agent Jim Toth. Maybe he didn't get the memo that it was just that—a rumor?

Either way, Jake's spending some time with this younger female and he seems to be diggin' it. We're just wondering if the lovey-dovey action is mutual.

We all know Swifty has a checklist when it comes to her crushes—hot, more mature men with love-song potential. Smart girl, eh? Indeed, the singer released a song rumored to be about her previous, much older bad-boy BF John Mayer, who was also spotted in NYC this weekend sans any hand-holding.

Jake's rep would not comment, which is kinda odd. Usually, they've got something to say.

Utter silence might just might mean this one ain't totally off-base. Let's all stay tuned.
