Jasmine's Ex Wants to Be a Family Guy

Jasmine Guy's husband may be preparing to lose his wife, but he isn't giving up his daughter without a fight.
Responding to his estranged wife's April 3 divorce petition, Terrence Duckett has filed court documents requesting joint custody of the duo's 9-year-old daughter, Imani Guy Duckett.
In her original court filing, which cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split, Guy requested primary legal and physical custody.
The onetime A Different World star also asked for spousal support and included a list of assets she wanted officially classified as hers, including her production company and the copyright to her 2005 book Afeni Shakur: Evolution of a Revolutionary, as well as artwork, furniture and jewelry.
She and Duckett tied the knot Aug. 22, 1998.
"Jasmine would like to say that there is no villain in this scenario, and that she is ending her marriage due to irreconcilable differences" and "would also like to thank everyone who wishes her and her family well, and asks that the press and the public allow her and her husband their privacy to work through what is a very difficult time," read a statement released by Guy's rep in April.
Guy will make her directorial debut next month in Atlanta with the production of the 1975 drama For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, by playwright Ntozake Shange.
The Boston-born and Atlanta-bred actress will be treated to a welcome back reception on July 28.
"I am excited to be coming home for yet another transition in my career," she said recently. "This play means so much to so many people, and it is a piece that truly speaks to me—on various levels."
