We knew Justin Timberlake could rap, but who knew Jimmy Fallon had MC skills, too?

During Timberlake's appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon  to promote The Social Network, the pair teamed with Fallon's hip-hop house band The Roots for an awesome three-minute medley that had the audience on their feet.

The unlikely duo popped off with a performance that included a smattering of samples from Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called QuestNotorious B.I.G., Missy Elliot, Kanye West and Eminem.

The most unexpected rap duo since Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell topped it all off by climbing the stairs into the audience with an energetic rendition of Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind."

The 36-year-old Fallon says he "really needed to practice" for the surprise performance, and was up until 2 a.m. in his apartment, adding, "you know I can't rap."

Could have fooled us.
