Charlie Sheen's Lawyer Slams (and Thanks?!) Blabber-Mouthed Arresting Officer

Yale Galanter exclusively tells E! News that former Aspen cop Valerie McFarlane's claims that actor strangled wife and held her at knife point are "absolutely not" true

And now, for the defense…

Just when it seemed like Charlie Sheen's reputation couldn't take any more hits, along came former Aspen Police detail Valerie McFarlane, the actor's arresting officer the night of his assault on wife Brooke Mueller, who exclusively detailed to E! News some of Brooke's more disturbing injuries.

Well, now it's Team Sheen's turn to rehash the past, and attorney Yale Galanter wants the world to know—she's a former officer for a reason. Ready for this?

"America should just enjoy watching Two and a Half Men and let it go," the CBS press department Galanter told E! News.

Not quite the airtight defense you were looking for, right? Let's try this again:

"He wants the facts out there," Galanter said of why he was choosing now to speak out on behalf of Sheen, who did in fact end up pleading guilty to third-degree domestic violence and spent 30 days in treatment.

"That was a private incident between a husband and wife. By pleading guilty, he admitted that something happened that shouldn't have."

But whatever that was, wasn't accurately described by McFarlane, according to Galanter.

Though keen to note that Sheen was "remorseful" for his Christmas Day aberration, the star lawyer said that McFarlane was "very hypocritical" and "misrepresented the facts" of the case when she spoke to E! News earlier this week.

McFarlane was fired by the APD earlier this year.

"She's the reason the case went down the toilet," Galanter bluntly explained.

So, to follow his logic, he should really be thanking McFarlane for screwing up. But instead of a gift basket, she'll have to make do with being a punchline. Or at least, an attempted one.

"She has so much baggage she'd have to pay triple at the airport," said Galanter.

And yes, folks, he's here all week.

As for the nitty-gritty, Galanter point-blank denies McFarlane's most damning claims, namely that Charlie spit on Brooke, held her at knife point for 20 minutes and left "strangulation marks" on her neck.

"We're disputing everything that Valerie has said."

When asked whether the photos taken at the scene backed up the former officer's claims, Galanter stated, "absolutely not."

In fact, the attorney said that despite reports to the contrary, Sheen and Mueller are not even legally separated (just estranged) and that they continue to coparent sons Max and Bob. And while it may not seem likely, Galanter said he hasn't yet counted out a reconciliation between the duo.

"Anything is possible. I can't predict the chemistry between two people. Things are good between them."

As for any lingering tension or just plain awkwardness between the couple, Galanter said that, "in their minds, it's over with."

"Charlie did the right thing" in entering his guilty plea, Galanter added. "He is remorseful that an argument got out of hand. Now he just wants to move on."
