Michael Douglas isn't letting cancer keep him from the red carpet.

The Oscar winner, diagnosed with advanced throat cancer earlier this summer, smiled and waved to fans as he and Catherine Zeta-Jones turned up last night at the Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps premiere in New York.

Currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, the actor, appearing thinner than usual, showed up to rousing applause and cheers from the crowd gathered outside the Ziegfeld Theatre for the long-anticipated sequel.

Douglas walked the length of the carpet surrounded by what one guest called a "human wall of bodyguards," who shuffled him in alongside costar Shia LeBeouf and director Oliver Stone. Douglas posed for photos but did not give any interviews.

LaBeouf talked to E! News about how much he admires Douglas' tough attitude about his illness.

"Cancer picked the wrong guy. Michael is a wolf," LaBeouf said, adding that going head to head with Douglas' Gordon Gekko in the film was a "surreal" experience.

Stone, meanwhile, discussed art imitating Douglas' life, referring to Gekko's speech about cancer in the film as well as Gekko's drug-addicted son.

"It was prescient," said the filmmaker, also mentioning that real-life couple LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan, who met on the set, "worked well together."

Also walking the carpet at the premiere were Josh Brolin, who came without wife Diane Lane, Tyra Banks and Spike Lee.
