First came the meat suit. Now Lady Gaga is breaking out "The Prime Rib of America."

While vegans and PETA might be a bit concerned, the Little Monsters, and some gay soldiers, are definitely cheering Gaga's latest headline-making move today in Maine.

The Grammy-winning,opster joined a group of former servicemen and -women discharged under Don't Ask, Don't Tell for a rally urging U.S. senators to repeal the controversial policy.

"I spent 48 hours trying to find the perfect thing to say. My address to you today is called 'The Prime Rib of America,' " Gaga told the crowd at Deering Oaks Park in Portland.

Today's event was specifically aimed at lobbying the state's two moderate Republican senators, Susan Collins and Olympica Snowe, to persuade them to rebuff efforts led by Sen. John McCain to filibuster the National Defense Authorization Act, which would overturn DADT.

"Equality is the prime rib of America, but because I'm gay I don't get to enjoy the greatest cut of meat my country has to offer," said Gaga, echoing the sentiments of gay soldiers.

"I thought equality was nonnegotiable," she added.

"Our new law is called 'If you don't like it, go home,' " she exlaimed to wild applause from the 2,000-strong audience.

"If the Senate and the president are not going to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell, perhaps they should be more clear with us about who the military is fighting for. Who our tax dollars are supporting and ultimately, how much does the prime rib cost?" the singer continued with the meat metaphor. "Because I thought this was an all-you-can-eat buffet."

"Are you listening?" she shouted. "Repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell or go home."

Last week, Gaga released an online video urging for repeal of DADT. And many of her Little Monsters have taken up the call.

The Senate vote is expected Tuesday.
