As most people would be in that situation, Tom Brady was "just in shock" after his Audi smashed into an allegedly red-light-running minivan on Thursday morning.

"I was scared out of my mind," the New England Patriots quarterback told Boston's WEEI-AM today about the crash, which required an ambulance for the other driver but left him well enough to attend practice as usual (and beat the Bengals yesterday).

And the crunching metal wasn't even the scariest part...

Brady said that he at first thought he had hit a woman who was walking her dog, as well.

"I swear to God," he recalled. "It was like The Matrix. When the cars hit, I saw all the glass kind of explode. Then I saw her go flying. I thought, 'Oh, my God' as we're kind of skidding to a stop. I saw her go flying back."

Turns out the woman was knocked over somehow, but not injured.

"I'm telling you, when it happened, I didn't even know what to do, because you're just in shock," said Gisele Bündchen's other half. "I was kind of sitting there in the car, looking around, trying to get my bearings...And then once I got home, then it really hits you."

And while Brady got his bearings and emergency vehicles arrived at the scene, onlookers snapped cell phone pics

"That was a little strange to me," Brady said. "That was a little awkward."

But, added the three-time Super Bowl winner, "The ambulance, the people from the ambulance, the medics and the fire, they were very professional. They were great. The older gentleman in the other car definitely needed to be attended do, so that's where they were focusing their time. Hopefully, he's OK."

"That was a scary morning for all of us," Brady said. "Man, wear your seat belts. That's all I can tell everybody. You never know."
