If art is pain, then Joseph Gordon-Levitt just secured himself a hell of a lot of credibility.
The Inception star sustained quite the war wound while shooting the action-thriller Premium Rush in New York this week, receiving a whopping 31 stitches in his arm after barreling into (and, it must be said, completely demolishing) the back window of a taxi.
Oh, Joe. You're supposed to put the pedal to the metal, not your arm. But for all those fans of blood and gore, the quick-thinking—not to mention bloodletting—actor managed to catch the sanguine aftermath on camera.
"Wanna see a lot of my blood?" he teased on Twitter yesterday. "31 stitches today… :oD (caution gore)."
He then directed followers to his blog for the accident's details.
"My first real wreck today," the 29-year-old wrote. "Busted through the rear window of a cab. Luckily got my elbows up. Coulda been way worse. No, but it was my fault, I was going too fast.
"The director, Dave Koepp, was extremely concerned for my well-being, but I made him RECord the wound. Anyway, Premium Rush is gonna be awesome."
It better be. If nothing else, Levitt might be the first actor who can genuinely claim to have done all his own stunts. Unintentionally, of course.
The movie, which centers around a bike messenger who catches the eye of a corrupt cop, is due out sometime next year.
