No one can promote a jail stint like Lindsay Lohan.

While just last month she donned a bikini or three and left her fate in the hands of German translators, she's back speaking our language for the September cover of Maxim, which was shot on June 30, a mere three weeks before her 14-day lockup.

Her wardrobe, too, went for variations on the theme as she embraced her impending jail stint with a cheeky black-and-white striped bikini. And her words? Well, let's just say it's a shame she can't blame the translators for these gems.

Just shy of her 24th birthday at the time of her interview with the men's mag, Lindsay proffered the following older and wiser nugget when asked about her hopes for the upcoming year:

"To focus on myself and my work and to move all press on me to focus on the work I do."

'Cause if there's one thing LiLo embodies at the moment, it's the epitome of selflessness.

"Also, I'd like to do more work in India and travel to Malawi," she said.

Having apparently gained insight from the roadblock-heavy path she's on, she also offered up some advice about how to cope with adversity.

"Stay true to yourself always," she said. "At the end of the day, you have to look at yourself in the mirror and be content with the choices you've made, and will make, in your life. Go with your gut!"

But not your liver. Whatever's left of it.

Still, despite her then-forthcoming jail time and the usual media blitz it caused, Lindsay was decidedly philosophical about the whole thing.

"I am feeling strong," she said. "I've experienced a lot in my life, and my mom has given me a lot of faith. This too shall pass."

The issue goes on sale Aug. 10.
