Just in case her entire career up until this point left you unsure, let's get one thing straight: Pamela Anderson has no problem being looked at as a piece of meat. She recently teamed up with PETA to pose as just that, handily labeling her own prime cuts as part of the group's latest animal-loving campaign.

The problem? It wasn't too sexy. It was too sexist.

At least according to Montreal officials, who banned PETA and its clothes-averse postergal from erecting a billboard in a city square this week by rejecting PETA's request for a permit.

"I have to inform you that we, as public officials representing a municipal government, cannot endorse this image of Ms. Anderson," City Commissioner Josee Buzzkill Rochefort wrote to the vegetarian activists.

"It is not so much controversial as it goes against all principles public organizations are fighting for in the everlasting battle of equality between men and women. We therefore will not give you a permit to hold your event on Place Jacques-Cartier."

Nevermind, incidentally, that the Place J-C is well within eye-shot of the city's infamous strip club row.

"I think it's silly," the native Canadian said during a press conference for her Just for Laughs comedy fest showcase tonight. "Montreal is known for its liberal attitude, so it doesn't make much sense."

Of course, had the commissioner allowed them to unveil the image no questions asked, it never would have garnered the publicity it now has—a point which Anderson was quick to note.

"It's unfortunate, but everyone's talking about it. So it worked to our advantage."

The campaign image will now be unveiled at the city's privately-owned Restaurant Globe this week.
